14 YEARS, I have waited 14 years since the first Incredibles came out. To put this in perspective when I was 7 years old I had an Incredibles themed birthday party, I am now 21 years old and finally got to attend the midnight premiere. My expectations were almost impossible to meet. Yet somehow Disney Pixar pulled it off, the movie found a way to feel fresh and new, while remaining nostalgic in all the right ways.
The movie starts off directly after the ending of the first. The family saves the day and is soon taken into custody by the police because super heroes are illegal. They are then approached by a billionaire who wants to use Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) as the beacon of light to spark the resurgence of superheroes across the globe. This is an interesting take because it then forces her husband Bob/ Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) to take over parenting responsibilities. Which includes helping Dash (Huck Milner) learn “new math”, Violet (Sarah Vowell) with boy problems, and the star of the show baby Jack-Jack somehow manage his new powers.
Whenever Jack-Jack is on screen hilarity follows, the little baby is absolutely brilliant and has many unpredictable powers. Basically think of Baby Groot but with unpredictable powers. Everything from the storyline, to the characters is absolutely brilliant. A vibrant world with even better emotions. A movie perfect for the family, or for a 20 year old waiting years for the sequel.
